Cabrières I Montagu Wedding Venue
07 / 03 / 17The Karoo, a place of endless horizons, rocky mountain ranges, and a sky so big that at night it feels as if you can touch the stars.
Tucked away in the town of Montagu, this charming, 19th century cellar makes for a memorable wedding venue. The adjacent tasting room, with its cosy fireplace, opens out onto a large, outdoor veranda with breath-taking views of the surrounding Langeberg Mountains, vineyards and hills. Surrounded by fynbos and vineyards in the natural splendour of the Karoo, the location sets Cabrières Weddings & Vineyards apart from most sought-after wedding hotspots.
History
Named after the small village of Cabrières d’Avignon in the south of France, this unique venue dates back to the 1800s. It is situated en route to the beautiful Keisie and Koo Pass, overlooking the vines and edged by the majestic ‘Groot Hoek’ Mountain range in the Western Cape, South Africa.
Venue
Cabrières oozes authentic charm and character and offers comprehensive possibilities for varied styles. The seating capacity and layout allows for indoor or outdoor functions, bringing you closer to the simple grandeur of the Montagu countryside.
Shaded by a pepper tree, the outdoor ceremony area provides an airy escape from the predictable Montagu heat. Add in the views of the vineyards and surrounding mountains, and you have the perfect setting for any bridal couple.
The charming old family wine cellar with heavy Oregon pine ceilings has been restored, adding space and style to its former glory. This quaint cellar is perfect for an intimate reception venue. Lit by candles or fairy lights, filled with laughter and the smell of delicious food, the cellar gives an immediate sense of peace – a true reflection of the surrounding Karoo.
The family’s care and passion for this naturally beautiful place is reflected in the planning of every wedding. Just another thing we – and you – will love about this venue.
